Three to six months is comfortable for most journeys. The dry season fills earlier, and the small properties we work with have few rooms: for June to October in East Africa, six months ahead is not too early.

No. We design the journey on the ground and leave the international flights to you, so you keep your air miles, your preferred airline and your own dates. We tell you which airports to aim for and which arrival times work with the itinerary.

Yes, on both kinds of journey. A private journey is built around you alone if that is what you want. On a group departure you arrive on your own and share the days with a small group.

Prices are shown in Canadian dollars by default, and the site also displays euros, US dollars and CFA francs depending on where you are. You pay in the currency shown when you book.

A deposit confirms your booking and the dates, the balance is due before departure. Some departures also offer instalment plans, which are announced on the journey page when they apply.

The conditions depend on the journey and on how close to departure you are: they are written in full in the proposal you receive, before you pay anything. Ask us anything you find unclear at that stage rather than after.

No, and we ask every traveller to take one. Choose a policy that covers medical care and repatriation for the countries on your itinerary, and send us the details once you have it.

We tell you which formalities apply to your itinerary and when to start them. Obtaining them remains yours to do: requirements change with your nationality and your country of residence, and only the official sources are authoritative.

Small groups, always. The next departure to Guadeloupe is capped at six participants.

Accommodation is based on double occupancy. If you travel solo you share with another participant of the same gender, and single occupancy is available for a supplement.
