Help & FAQ

Everything You Need To Know

Find answers to common questions about planning your journey, accommodation, payments and travel across Africa.

How do I book a journey?

Once you've chosen your adventure, simply submit an enquiry through our website. We'll guide you through the booking process and answer any questions before confirming your trip.

Can I travel solo?

Absolutely. Many of our journeys are suitable for solo travelers. Depending on the itinerary, you can choose between sharing a room or requesting single occupancy (subject to availability and supplement).

Are international flights included?

No. International flights are not included, giving you the flexibility to book the itinerary that best suits your departure location and travel plans.

Can I extend my stay?

Yes. We'd be delighted to help you add extra nights, activities, or even combine multiple destinations to create a tailor-made itinerary.

When is the best time to travel?

Every destination has its ideal season. Each journey is carefully scheduled to offer the best weather, wildlife encounters, and local experiences.

How does payment work?

Once your itinerary is finalised, you pay a deposit to confirm your booking and secure your dates. The balance is settled before departure. At each step, you receive a secure payment link and a receipt.

Can I spread my payment?

Yes. Your journey is paid in stages: a deposit when you book, then the balance before departure. We adapt the terms to your situation, so feel free to talk to us about it.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept international bank cards through a secure payment platform. For our travellers in Africa, suitable local options are also available.

Is payment secure?

Yes. Your payments are processed through secure, encrypted platforms. We never have access to your banking details.

What type of accommodation can I expect?

We carefully select boutique hotels, eco-lodges, guesthouses, and unique stays that reflect the character and authenticity of each destination.

Are the activities suitable for everyone?

Most experiences are designed for travelers with a moderate level of fitness. Optional activities and free time allow everyone to enjoy the journey at their own pace.

Will I have opportunities to meet local communities?

Yes. Authentic cultural encounters are at the heart of every Sleep in Africa journey, from visiting local villages to sharing meals and meeting inspiring local hosts.

Are meals included?

Meals vary depending on the itinerary. Please refer to the "What's Included" section on each journey page for full details.

Can dietary requirements be accommodated?

Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and most dietary requirements can usually be accommodated with advance notice.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all Sleep in Africa journeys.

Do I need a visa?

Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality and destination. We recommend checking the latest requirements with the relevant embassy before traveling.

Is it safe to travel?

Your safety is our priority. We work with trusted local partners and carefully design every itinerary to provide a safe and enjoyable travel experience.

Will I have access to Wi-Fi?

Most accommodations offer Wi-Fi, although the connection may be limited in remote areas where we encourage travelers to disconnect and fully immerse themselves in the experience.

What should I pack?

We recommend lightweight clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, swimwear (when applicable), and any personal essentials. A detailed packing list is provided before departure.
